When Starcraft 2 was released for sale there were a couple of guides available that had been developed along side the beta. Once the game was released for sale there was a starcraft 2 strategy guide coming out every couple of weeks. Become familiar with the various buildings and units of that race.  Then you can begin to develop your game plans. Builds and attack/defense strategy.

So after some initial investigation into each race you’ve decided that the bug like Zerg aren’t so ugly after all they’re just misunderstood and you think that you could relate to them.  You like critters.  Great.  The Zerg have some very exciting and unique abilities.  Zerg strategy is always based on the fact that they can produce large amounts of units quickly and cheaply.  The word expendable comes to mind doesn’t it?  All those units come at a cost in materials so you will need to expand to thrive.

A great Zerg strategy, the Zerg rush, utilizes their ability to produce units quickly and inexpensively.  Start popping out Zerglings as fast as you can and keep sending them over to your enemies base.  This non stop harassment causes panic and confusion and inevitably leads to a mistake.  That’s what you are looking for.  Many Starcraft 2 games are won quickly using this tactic.

If you find the Terrans all cute and cuddly then cozy up to them.  Terrans are a popular first choice for new players because they are more familiar.  The Terran race uses technology to get the job done.  They have some awesome unit combinations that are hard to beat.  Especially in the mid to later game.

In Starcraft 2 Terran strategy revolves around the defensive.  The first thing you will want to do as a Terran player is wall up your base’s entry or choke points to block off access to rushing enemies.  Terran players will use supply depots and barracks to do this.  The supply depot’s ability to burrow down into the ground gives your army a way out but blocks any attackers.  Once you’re turtled in to your base you can then start to research and upgrade your units giving you a technological advantage.

The Protoss are a very serious bunch.  They use their Psy energy and are the most technologically advanced race.  With the Protoss unlike the other two races you can construct your entire base with one probe unit.  They have the ability to warp units around the map which gives them the advantage of mobility.  They have a very strong early game with their Zealots and Stalkers.  Zealots are the strongest early game unit out of all the races.  Sometimes used to rush the enemy to slow down their economy.  This Protoss strategy is a very strong move against a player who isn’t expecting it.

Zerg Tech Tree

If you want to be a successful Zerg player you have got to get the zerg tech tree down cold. Learn which units are available at which structures.

Know the build orders that go with any particular strategy.

Are you planning a Speedling Rush? Know when to drop your pool. When and how to get the metabolic upgrade that turns your Zerglings into crazed steroid charged Speedlings.

Maybe your scouting efforts reveal that your enemy has no anti air defense. This tells you to start pumping out air to ground units. You have to know how and where to get your Mutas.

Once you choose your race you need to spend time learning the zerg tech tree. Understand the structures and upgrades, which units come out of which buildings.

The easiest way that I’ve found to begin learning the zerg tech tree is to choose a relatively simple strategy like the Speedling/Baneling rush and hone it to a razor sharp edge by practicing against the computer. The shokz guide has the strategies you need.

Increase the AI as it gets easy to win. Then hit the battlenet for some 1v1.

Without doubt the most hated tactic in starcraft 2 is the Zerg rush. This starcraft 2 zerg strategy works just like it sounds.  You build a force of zerglings and use them in an all out rush tactic hoping to catch your opponent off guard and poorly defended.  Hey, if your pissing that many people off you must be on to something.

Learn The Zerg Rush — Become Feared and Hated

The zerg rush can end a game very quickly and is looked down on by losers.  You’re there to win and this Starcraft 2 zerg strategy is a proven winner.  There are some finer points though that you need to be aware of if you want to master this simple zerg strategy.

First you need to know your zerg tech tree and zerg units inside and out.

Because you are going for a quick attack with your zerg rush you are making some sacrifices to your home base defenses and your economy.  If you don’t get the most out of your starcraft 2 zerg rush you are left in a very vulnerable position.  You must have a fall back plan or you may wind up looking like a total dork.

The zerg rush strategy should be viewed as a way to damage your enemies economy early in the game to give you an edge.  But you don’t want to just send your zerglings blindly rushing into the enemy base trying to take out the supply line.  The basic worker units,  Drones, Probes and SCV’s can easily kill zergings so you need to have control over your zergling army. Don’t let them get surrounded.

Against Terran opponents you will probably need to break through the choke point as most Terran players wall up and turtle their base.  If they already have Marines active take them out one by one.  Then crush their SCV’s one at a time.

Against Protoss opponents go for the Pylon that is powering the Gateway.  By then they will have Zealots coming out.  Again try to surround them and kill them off one at a time. Then focus on destroying the supply chain.

Against Zerg opponents try to take down the Spawning Pool if there are no zerglings out yet.  Kill off zerglings as they pop out and then go for the Drones.  Try to give your zerglings the Metabolic boost to speedlings to get an advantage over a Zerg opponent.

If all goes according to plan your enemy will be screaming at his monitor and crying into his hands. Be ready for a string of abuse and name calling.

Players will try to set some kind of lame made up rule at the beginning of a game. Some way to prevent rushing usually that they’ve decided on and that they feel safe with.  I think this is the real BS.  Rush on I say.

Being prepared for a zerg rush makes you a better player.  To commit to a zerg rush leaves you exposed so it’s a two way street.  The game is meant to played to win according to the abilities of the player and the attributes of the race picked.

So let’s stop with the crying.  There’s no crying in Starcraft 2. Let your zerg rush.

The replay is running too fast so you’ll have to playback  here and there to figure out the exact zerg build order.

Shokz Guide Shows You How to Dominate

One of the sneakiest moves of all the Zerg strategies there are is the Extractor trick.   This works when you are at 10/10 supply you send a drone or two to make Extractors then make two more drones then cancel your Exractors and voila, you’ve got 12/10 supply without having to build any more Overlords.

It’s easier to watch this zerg strategy than have me try and explain it so here it is.

Go for a fast expand.  Make an Extractor so you can start collecting Vespene gas.  Get your Spawning pool down around 16/18 supply.  Drop a few Spine Crawlers to handle your base defense against any early Marines and Reapers.  Keep pumping out  Drones.  Get your Queens, one on each Hatchery and spawn larvae.

All the while you continue to harvest minerals and gas.  Start cranking out zerglings.  Get your Speedling upgrade.  You need to have a Baneling Nest so get one started.  If you have scouted the enemy and determine an air assault is on the way then drop an  Evolution chamber for future Spore Crawlers.   Add some Spore crawlers for anti air if needed.

Gather the troops.  Seperate out your Speedlings and Banelings into two or more control groups.  Pay your Terran neighbor a visit.  The Banelings make mince meat out of Terran walls!  Speedlings come in and clean it up.  This zerg strategy is a game ender.  Booya!  Bugs rule!
